Blue Apron. We’ve probably all heard of it. Fresh groceries, pre-packaged exactly for meals you can choose, conveniently delivered straight to your doorstep. No hassle. So when they had a sale for half off their 2 person meal deals I thought, “Why not?”
The whole process was fun and exciting – you get to choose your own meals (vegetarian or not) from a list of about 6. Delivery takes about a week, and all the ingredients showed up cold and fresh even though I got off work late! However, there are pros and cons to the meal plan which I’ll explain:
PROS:
- Easy and fun to cook!
- No purchasing more ingredients than needed (everything is exactly packaged for 2 or 4 people!)
- Interesting food choices that I probably wouldn’t have made otherwise
- Pretty good quality meals (I enjoyed most of all of them)
CONS:
- A little expensive
- You can’t exactly pick whichever meals in your box (Blue Apron limits you on price what 3 meals you can pick from the 6)
- Weird ingredients (I know, I know. I’m an adult who should be eating kale and collard greens, but why can’t they just throw in some spinach and call it a day?)
Indonesian-Spiced Salmon, Seared Chicken and Mashed Potatoes, Pibil-Style Pork
I will say that Blue Apron made date night a lot of fun! Me and the boy really enjoyed cooking together and working in the kitchen. It was great to spice things up and not go out to eat like we usually do! I also love that Blue Apron recommends wines that pair well with each meal, since I am the WORST at picking out wines.
I completely forgot to take pics of the whole thing, so I’ll just post the images of the meals that I picked from Blue Apron’s website. (Of course they look exactly the same….shhhh)
I’ve included links to each of the recipes so y’all can try them if you want! I’m also thinking about reviewing Hello Fresh and Martha Stewart’s line so I can do a comparison. Hopefully I’ll remember to take photos!
Much love,
Jordan
